Guest Coach Requirements and Protocols

Eligibility

  •  Guest coaches must meet U.S. Figure Skating Coach Compliance requirements as outlined in the current U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook.
  • All coaching requires a signed Idaho IceWorld Commercial Use Licensing Agreement prior to teaching.
  • Coaching is permitted only with prior approval from the Idaho IceWorld Skating Director.

 

Fees 

Guest coaches are responsible for paying all ice and facility use fees before taking the ice or beginning a lesson.

  • Guest Coaching Commercial Use Fee
    • $25/day (daily commercial use fee)
    • OR $380 annually (non-prorated, valid July 1 – June 30)
  • Ice Fees (in addition to guest coaching fee)
    • Freestyle Ice: $15/hour
    • Public Skate: $9 for 2 hours (no jumping permitted) 

ACTIVTY CALENDAR

Application Process

To receive approval to coach at Idaho IceWorld, the following steps must be completed:

  1. Request Approval
    • Contact Skating Director, Kelley Canning, at least 48 hours in advance.
  2. Submit Required Documentation
    • Certificate of Insurance naming:
      City of Boise, Idaho IceWorld, their respective agents, officers, and employees
      PO Box 500, Boise, ID 83701
    • Proof of current U.S. Figure Skating Coach Certification and Compliance
      (See 2025–26 U.S. Figure Skating Coach Compliance Checklist for reference.)
  3. Sign Licensing Agreement
    • Sign the IIW Annual Commercial Use Licensing Agreement (sent electronically once your request and documentation is received).
  4. Sign in at Skate Counter and Pay Fees
    • Sign in as a coach upon arrival each day.
    • Pay the annual commercial use fee ($380) or the daily commercial use fee ($25/day).
    • Pay applicable ice session fees at the skate counter before entering the ice

 

Virtual Coaching / Virtual Lessons

Virtual coaching is subject to all Idaho IceWorld Guest Coach Requirements and Protocols, including U.S. Figure Skating compliance, insurance, applicable commercial use fees, and the Commercial Use Licensing Agreement, and must receive prior approval from the Skating Director.

Minor Skaters

Virtual coaching involving skaters under 18 must comply with U.S. Figure Skating SkateSafe® and Electronic Communications policies, including parent/guardian awareness and permission.

Failure to comply with virtual coaching requirements may result in suspension of virtual coaching privileges, termination of licensing agreements, or denial of future facility use.
